The Village of Deerfield Public Works and Engineering Department is made up of several divisions:

The Street Division is tasked to maintain the Village roadways and handles the trees in the Village right-of-way. The division also keeps the streets cleared of snow and ice, and handles the upkeep of the Village roadways by repairing cracks and potholes.

The Water Division provides fresh and safe potable water to Village residents, repairs and replaces water mains, and tests all water meters and takes meter readings of all residential and commerical establishments within the Village.

The Sewer Division maintains, cleans, and repairs the sanitary and storm sewer systems. The Village of Deerfield is one of the few municipalities to operate its own wastewater reclamation facility (WRF).

The WRF treats and processes all sewage from the Village of Deerfield, as well as the sewage from a portion of the Village of Bannockburn and a small portion from the City of Highland Park.

The Garage Division repairs and provides maintenance for all Village vehicles and equipment. The division also maintains the Public Works facility and provides routine maintenance to the facility and it's equipment.
